Background of the Study

Education sector development is pivotal for socio-economic growth. In Geidam Local Government Area (LGA), Yobe State, budgetary allocation practices are central to the success of educational initiatives. Proper allocation and management of resources are necessary for addressing educational infrastructure, teacher training, and student performance. However, issues such as insufficient funding, corruption, and weak monitoring mechanisms have hindered progress. This study evaluates the role of budgetary allocation practices in promoting education sector development in Geidam LGA.

Statement of the Problem

Despite budgetary allocations to the education sector, Geidam LGA continues to face challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, poorly trained teachers, and low student performance. These issues point to inefficiencies in budgetary allocation and fund utilization. This study examines how budgetary allocation practices affect education sector development in Geidam LGA.

Aim and Objectives of the Study

1. To evaluate the impact of budgetary allocation practices on education sector development in Geidam LGA.

2. To identify challenges in the allocation and utilization of educational funds.

3. To recommend strategies for improving education sector outcomes through effective budgetary practices.

Research Questions

1. How do budgetary allocation practices influence education sector development in Geidam LGA?

Research Hypotheses

1. H₀: Budgetary allocation practices do not significantly impact education sector development in Geidam LGA.

2. H₀: Challenges in fund utilization do not significantly affect the education sector in Geidam LGA.

3. H₀: Improved budgetary practices do not significantly enhance education sector development in Geidam LGA.

Significance of the Study

The study provides valuable insights into the relationship between budgetary allocation practices and education sector development. It benefits policymakers, education administrators, and researchers.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study focuses on budgetary allocation practices and their impact on education sector development in Geidam LGA, Yobe State. Limitations include access to budget records and challenges in collecting data from stakeholders.
